Northland s St John Ambulance service is better off thanks to a donation from the Whangārei Lions Club s 27th annual corporate Charity Golf Tournament.
Held at the Northland Golf Club mid March the tournament saw $5000 for St John Ambulance, which will be used mainly for intraosseous bone injection drills to be included as inventory for ambulances.

Jessy Larios walked almost 500 miles from Los Angeles to San Francisco in a bear suit.
His trek began at 6 a.m. on April 12 in the Little Tokyo neighborhood of Los Angeles. The goal was to finish the walk in less than a week, he wrote on Instagram.
It took him a little longer than planned, but he celebrated his finish with a crowd of people as he reached his final destination on Saturday: the Golden Gate Bridge. Everybody look, there s the bridge! he told followers of his journey on Instagram Live.

Volunteering for The Hits 210km/$210 Ronald McDonald House Challenge turned out to be an even bigger challenge for Ngawapurua s Maddi O Leary, who ended up walking 504km, averaging more than 16km a day. Its not unusual for people my age [19] to do things for charity, but to walk over 500km for charity - some of my friends comments were like are you mad ? Or they can t believe how far I ve walked, she said.
